Welcome to the Pretendo Network forums
This thread aims to tackle frequently asked questions so you can get issues solved faster than it may take otherwise.
If you have any questions of your own, we recommend looking for existing posts in Support and seeing whether any solutions already posted may solve your issues before creating a new topic.
Pretendo will eventually support almost every Wii U or 3DS game. Please don’t expect everything to be supported and don’t expect for games to be supported quickly, Pretendo is ran by a small team of volunteers.
Making a post to request a game WILL NOT increase the priority of Pretendo working on that game.
You can check the list of currently supported games at Pretendo Game Support Status [ErdbeerbaerLP's Wiki].
You do NOT need to delete your NNID to access Pretendo Network.
On both Wii U and 3DS, Pretendo Network works in a separate profile (although do note that you need to have a different username to your NNID). Deleting your Nintendo Network profile may cause you to lose games and may cause other downsides.
(thanks @piplupness for the suggestion)
If you have an error code, please try putting in the error code at https://pretendo.network/docs/errors and trying any suggested solutions. If that doesn’t improve things, please see whether there are any existing posts in Support and whether any solutions might work for you. If they don’t, make a new post in Support.
Pretendo has a written text guide for the Wii U at https://pretendo.network/docs/install/wiiu and for the 3DS at https://pretendo.network/docs/install/3ds.
It is highly recommended to follow the official Pretendo guides rather than video tutorials as they can miss crucial information out or can be outdated.
Absolutely, please refrain from making a new topic for sharing friend codes (as it will likely get merged into the main one).
The 3DS friend code exchange is here: 3DS Friend Code Exchange / looking for people to add
The Wii U PNID exchange is here: Wii U PNID Exchange!
You can do so on GitHub for the majority of the Pretendo services. See Pretendo Network · GitHub for a full list of repositories.
For a full guide on how to contribute to Pretendo, please see the contributing guide on the Pretendo GitHub: .github/.github/CONTRIBUTING.md at master · PretendoNetwork/.github · GitHub
If you are unable to do so on console, please contact a staff member to forward on a request to @PN_Jon to delete your account.
Please note: you must be signed in with the account you wish to delete for requests to be processed as a security measure.
Instead of creating a topic here, try contacting a Juxtaposition/Discord moderator via private message and get it resolved that way.
If that’s not possible, we can handle it here but not all of us have access to moderation resources on Discord currently (including myself).
Assuming that you currently support Pretendo Network financially at the Super Mario Tier (US$10/month) or above, you can access Wii U development servers by changing your account settings.
For 3DS, you’ll need to send it to @DaniElectra
on Discord using the private channels available to supporters (specifically, #testing-discussion) or you can publish it in this thread: 3DS Friend Code Whitelisting for Testing Servers.

Only in private matches where everyone is aware that cheats are allowed - gaining an unfair advantage or distrupting the online experience with people who didn’t consent (as in public matches) is a bannable offense. We regularly apply account and console bans to both Wii U and 3DS systems.
Pretendo Network uses extra security measures that make “traditional” ban evasion techniques ineffective. Your first ban will usually be an account ban and second will be a console ban.
Note: We do allow client-sided mods that don’t interfere with gameplay or other people’s experiences, such as being an octoling in Splatoon.
If you want to report a hacker, see instructions at Hacker Reporting Thread.
Whilst connected to Pretendo servers in Nimbus, open System Settings on your console > Nintendo Network ID settings and when prompted to do so, link your existing PNID.
Note: Your PNID cannot be the same username as your currently linked NNID.
Be sure to check out [Guide] Welcome to Discourse! for a quickguide on how to use the forum software.
Some FAQs are split off into different threads to reduce this post becoming too long (and to have better discoverability in search). These are not pinned on the forum to reduce clutter.
If you have any more questions that feel like they should go here, leave a reply and I can consider it.
