Yet another error 022-2402 issue

Making an account for one of my other 3DS that I have lying around, a new 2DS xl to be specific. However when trying to make my pretendo account on the console, I get the infamous 022-2402 code. I’m able to set up all the information but once I hit “link” it returns with the code

Before someone asks, yes I’ve looked at the other forum posts and I have tried everything they’ve told me.

I’ve switched my language to French and did the whole setup in that language
I selected french then english and did the setup in english
I’ve tried at least 2 “normal attempts”
I’ve tried the old “turn it off and turn it back on again”

Still, I keep getting this error code. I have a feeling it’s a server side issue so I understand if it takes some time. I am hoping this does get fixed soon though, my other 3DS signed in with this Pretendo account works smoothly, so nothing else seems to malfunction on my end.

Do you get an error code in your friends list?

Nope, I’m shown as online but all my previous friends (that I had with my NNID) are gone (although to my knowledge this should happen no?)

Edit: Also while looking at the wiki link you sent, I already switched the system language multiple times.

I’m gonna go through all potential troubleshooting steps at once:

  1. Open Universal Updater
  2. search “luma” and download boot.firm
  3. in universal updater, also reinstall Nimbus (don’t need to uninstall, just re-install)
  4. open Nimbus, and go back to Nintendo servers
  5. open eShop
  6. go back to Pretendo in Nimbus
  7. open Friends and make sure your friend code is there
  8. change system language to French
  9. try creating your account again

*I have heard that the .3dsx of Nimbus sometimes doesn’t work as well and to use the .cia one from Universal Updater, but both should be equivalent

Also, you can use this account on the other 3DS as well. A PNID can be on multiple 3DS systems.

Alright so, i ended up just making an account on the pretendo website and linking it through my 3DS that way. Works perfectly now, before that i tried creating it one more time and got the same error

I believe pretendo won’t allow 3DS users at least to make an account on device. Linking a pretendo account works smoothly, so for now i’d recommend that you create the account on a device OTHER than the 3DS. The only downside is that your birthday is stuck at 1/1/90 but birthdays aren’t used for anything.

I got it to work but this issue isnt “fixed” hopefully one day we can create pretendo accounts on a 3DS but until then, at least the accounts work lol.

I helped someone make an account on the 3DS itself a few hours ago. It does work, but it isn’t always consistent.
