You can send doodles using StreetPass Relay instead.

Most services that utilised Nintendo Network will be available for use on Pretendo in the future.
There’s currently a project reimplementing Swapdoodle actually, but I haven’t heard anything about it lately:

BOSS (SpotPass) services are different from everything else, I’m pretty sure.
We have the ability to send out SpotPass things - we already implement some.
- Wii U - WaraWara Plaza
- Wii U - Splatoon News
- 3DS - Notifications (only ever been one so far, but the system is in place)
- 3DS - StreetPass Relay
Now, I am not a developer, so this is only speculation now from me:
Each game likely needs its own special development for its BOSS implementation. I don’t even know if it uses NEX proper, I got to be honest. BOSS fascinates me, and I definitely want to learn more about it and how it works.

Swapnote/Nintendo Letter Box already works, if that fills the niche you need. For the past week I’ve been sending notes back and forth and it’s fun!

That actually doesn’t work on Pretendo SPR yet.
The thing that fixes that is NetPass.
(Pretendo doesn’t do any special patches for SPR, and Swapnote requires one, and NetPass gives one out.)

Pretendo does not support Swapnote, even with StreetPass Relay.

Netpass has a patch for Swapnote to work as part of the NetPass project.
New contributors are developing for Swapdoodle, not Swapnote.
Currently, Pretendo has not started anything for Swapnote.
