I heard people in the pretendo discord server talk about how Wii U chat will never be public and will remain as a beta tester indefinitely. Can I get a confirmation from an official pretendo moderator to let me know if that rumor is true or not please? Thank you

And this is my personal opinion on the matter going off of everything I’ve seen, so don’t take this as anything official, but I doubt that Wii U Chat will become public, simply for the fact that Juxt DMs were removed from the service because the moderation did not feel comfortable with moderating what is supposed to be private conversations, nor could they. This would also apply to Wii U Chat, and even more so since Wii U Chat is peer-to-peer, same way that online play works, the staff doesn’t have any logs past being able to see that two consoles connected to each other at a specific time, however there’s not a call log, and even if they could see them, they wouldn’t be comfortable with peering into those call logs
Another reason for why it’s unlikely for Wii U Chat to be brought to public servers is simply the fact that nobody has worked on it for years, sure that isn’t stopping anyone from working on it, but the fact that development has slowed to a halt for the past year for the secure server and two years for the authentication server, means it probably isn’t up for testers currently due to the recent maintenance on the servers
