Sometimes I wonder why some people still play Wii U and 3DS online when the Switch 1 and Switch 2 are there with modern games and improved versions of the Wii U and 3DS versions, I have my reasons, but I want to read the community’s.

3ds has two screens, unlike the switch, and has better communication and social features than the switch #. same applies to the Wii U if your using both the gamepad and tv. wii u also has a built in vWii unlike the switch #.
also pretendo has better support than this garbage.

I missed the DS generation entirely. I had a GBA SP and then Switch. So I got a lot of making up to do with my DS’s.

I’ve gone back to the 3DS and Wii U because I dislike where gaming is headed. Sony plans to stop making physical games soon, Microsoft keeps trying to turn Xbox into a game streaming service and its one of a handful of those on the market now, Nintendo’s been pushing game key cards to make physical games the same as digital copies, and PC gaming is all digital and ridden with DRM. It’s very clear to me that the games industry no longer cares about people like me that like owning what they pay for. They’d rather push things to be more like Netflix because it gives gaming companies far more control over how you get to play your games, and they’re using convenience as the incentive to get you to buy into it.
I’ve chosen not to buy into it myself, choosing instead to revisit the past as an alternative to playing modern games and as a form of protest against the direction gaming is going in. It won’t change anything, as I’m in the minority of people who feel this way about modern gaming, but I don’t care. It makes me feel better knowing I’m not contributing to gaming going down this path and that’s all that matters to me. There’s a lot of great games that already exist on older systems, and the 3DS and Wii U are home to many fantastic games on par with what the Switch offers. The modding scenes for these systems have been going strong for years and emulators for them have gotten really good as well. Thanks to these, you can have the freedom to play the games you’ve bought any way you’d like, something you should have always had.

I missed the Wii U (and 3DS) generation entirely, and there were many Wii U games that I wanted to play that weren’t on Switch. I also wanted to experience the Wii U myself.
It’s also nice that it can play my Wii games, though I did wish it could play Gamecube games like the Wii could.
