What is the difference between a PNID and a PID?

I keep hearing terms like PNIDs and PIDs. I know PNIDs work just like NNIDs for the Pretendo Network, but what are PIDs? What differs between both systems?

PIDs is essentially a long unique numerical ID which categorises you and is automatically generated by the system.

PNID is your username which you use to access online services which you create yourself.

Does this sound right? I don’t actually know

yeah that’s about right

so on Nintendo network, there’s NIDs?

No. The P in PID has nothing to do with us. PID is an acronym which stands for “Principal ID” Principal (computer security) - Wikipedia

I always thought the ‘P’ did stand for ‘Pretendo’ as well!
