Unfortunately, there are currently some issues with 118-0562 errors on the Minecraft Wii U server.
@shutterbug2000 previously shared the following notice on Discord :
shutterbug2000:
I’ve rebooted the Minecraft: Wii U edition servers to temporarily resolve the 118-0562 issues.
We’re still working out the exact cause of the bug, but we believe it is related to logging in shortly after logging out.
To (hopefully!) prevent the issue from appearing, please wait a few minutes after closing a game (especially Minecraft: Wii U edition) before reopening it and attempting to go online.
(For the curious: the server appears to still believe you are logged in elsewhere, and sends lobby notifications to that location. This causes your current game to never receive crucial information, resulting in errors.)
Since then, the server has been rebooted a couple of times to work around the error.
Today, @PN_quarky shared the following update on Discord :
PN_quarky:
afternoon all - while we’re waiting for a deeper fix to this stale connection problem, I have added an automatic restart to Minecraft. the next restart is 2024-12-17T14:00:00Z and the same day/time every week after that. I would recommend restarting your game at this time rather than trying to reconnect.
TL;DR: The Minecraft Wii U server will restart every week on Tuesdays at 2:00 PM to work around a bug that is causing 118-0562 errors. You’ll need to restart your game at this time.

This do be some wonderful news. Now I can harass people who say they have errors that they’re just making excuses.
How about we don’t? We don’t tolerate this at all
