Suggestion - Add an optional theme for Miiverse to make it look like the original Nintendo one

---------- Suggestion ------------

I appreciate how Pretendo has revived Miiverse, but I have a suggestion. Since the Pretendo Miiverse is designed with a more modern look, perhaps it could offer a theme that resembles the classic Nintendo Miiverse. This would allow people to experience the original feel.

Not sure how much Nintendo would like that, and it may be a legal ground for a DMCA for unauthorized usage and impersonification of their brand assets and related copyrights.

OG Miiverse has been down for almost 7 years now, they probably wouldn’t care. Plus, rverse almost completely replicated Nintendo’s design and didn’t face any legal trouble.

Oh, did they now?
(character limit etc)

Yes. Yes they did……….

And Rverse got away with it all?

Well, Yes! Rverse only really shut down due to the lack of authentication tokens on their servers. When NNID Shutdown, it took rverse with it, they were both on the same framework.

i made one maybe its not good but its still in beta Release miiverse theme 'BETA' · sunshinehatem/OG-miiverse · GitHub

Check the reply i did here.

At least from what other Pretendo people said, they arent interested in that, and thats acceptable atp, they probably want to avoid even the smallest possibility of getting any type of strikes/stuff from Nintendo against them.

While my personal opinional is this would never happen, this isnt related to the point here.

Basically, as i said in the linked post, making a theme like Miiverse would be possible, its just you would literally need your console connected to a proxy all the time (makes loading times slower) and having a rewrite or something that redirects all requests to the Juxt CSS to your own one.

Once upon a time, back when i could still access Juxt i made this myself.

I tried to make a PR to Juxt to try to make it look a bit more skeumorphic (it doesnt look as good as i wanted it to, it was mostly just me messing with its CSS)

It didnt got accepted but the reason why is fair.

My point is, if youre willing to set up a proxy, set up a custom Inkay that has the rootca for your proxy, and all of this complicated stuff (i could make a tutorial, but as i said, its not recommended, you do need a proxy running all the time for this, and side effects happen like lower)

and even then, the CSS you want to use, well, its your thing.

I could personally do this so requested theme if i wanted to, im very experienced in old CSS and i could self host my Pretendo instance and test the CSS changes.

I just dont think its worth it, its probably just 2 people going to use it, i mean, would you really do all the setup i mentioned before, just for a OG Miiverse theme, not worth it imo…

Why can’t you now? Are you banned?

I didn’t know that. I guess they’ll have to build a new theme for their service if they ever want to try again.

I mean, let’s see what happens… I hope they can use OG Assets.

But those are copyrighted by Nintendo.

Exactumundo! DMCA Playground am I right! Technically, rverse may be able to get away with it, though the grounds are under patent, Nintendo would most likely not care, though let’s see.

Nintendo would most likely not care

You never know. They’re really picky over odd things like that.

Yeah! Haha. You are very right!

Wait, wait wait. Come again, would you be willing to set up a proxy, I promise I would use it every day :face_holding_back_tears: I am just saying, even though I don’t have means to support the hosting,
I would greatly appreciate that! I only have an experience in Python and C, really me stepping into Markup languages is like letting a baby fly a plane. Only if you would want to, but you would fulfil my dream to host a proxy for an original theme!
Thank You.

They havent cared for the 7 years that rverse existed, or any Miiverse clones that ever existed before Juxt (which btw, were hundreds)

Legally yes, but the chance of it happening is 0.0001% (imo), but i think Jon said something about It before, so you might want to give him a read, he knows more than anyone in here about legal matters.
