Some Questions Regarding Pretendo on Wii U

Hello, everyone. I’ve been considering homebrewing my Wii U to use Pretendo, but I have a couple of questions before I do so.

  1. When setting up your PNID on a new user account, is it required to create a new PNID, or will entering your pre-existing credentials work? (As in, the account I’m using to post on this forum.)
  2. I’m aware that one has to manually transfer your save data from your old profile to your new one. But I’m a bit concerned about games that seem to link your Mii and save data pretty closely, specifically Wii Fit U. If I transferred the data over to the new profile, would everything in-game carry over even though it’s a different Mii? Is a different Mii even required?

Thanks for your help and patience.

As long as the PNID you’re using to post on the forum isn’t the same as your NNID, you can link your existing credentials to a new profile.

I’m not sure about the specifics of Wii Fit U, but it might just be shared save data which I believe is shared between all profiles on the Wii U? @Joshua8600PNID would have a better idea for this than me though.

On Wii U, save data is tied almost exclusively to the User, not the Mii.

(The exception is Nintendo Land and Wii Fit U - that game’s progress actually is tied to the Mii, bizarrely.)

But you use the homebrew app called “SaveMii WUT Port” on the Homebrew app store to backup/restore save data from the first user to the PNID one.

Then for Nintendo Land/Wii Fit U, you can change the User Mii to the one with the progress, if you have that game.

At least, Nintendo Land 100% is tied to the Mii.

I think Wii Fit U is as well.

So if I’m understanding correctly, simply selecting the Mii I want to use on Wii Fit U or Nintendo Land will have the pre-existing save data, no matter which profile I’m using?

That Mii needs to be set to the PNID’s User Mii - aka the one that is used in games and on Juxt.

If that Mii is currently on an NNID, do this:

  1. Switch to NNID user
  2. click Mii on upper left
  3. something like “User Mii” or “Change Mii”
  4. select a different mii or make a new one
  5. Go to PNID user
  6. do steps 2-3
  7. select the original NNID Mii as the PNID user Mii now

this transfers the save data for Nintendo Land (and maybe Wii Fit U) to the new PNID user
