I have recently modded my friends 3ds and installed smash bros for the two of us on our respective systems and I looked up and install pretendo switched to the servers and everything and Im not sure if there is 100 percent 3ds smash bros support so I’m just making sure
Smash 3DS support is in beta stages right now. To get access to it, you have to subscribe to Pretendo’s beta service (Super Mario Tier or higher, $10.00 USD a month). I believe your friend code has to be whitelisted via Discord too.

No. You do not need to subscribe to Super Mario Tier, nor be whitelisted to access the free servers.
