Question About Pretendo's Approach to 3DS Online Gaming

Hello Pretendo Team,

First of all, I want to thank you for the work you’re doing. I have a question regarding a suggestion made by a friend of mine. He mentioned that it might be simpler for users if there was a tool allowing us to create our own servers, enabling us to play our games online more freely.

From a technical perspective, could you kindly explain the reasons behind your decision not to implement such a feature? My friend and I are curious to understand the technical benefits and vision behind the approach you’ve chosen.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration!

If you can in the future, I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t generate a post like this using an AI assistant.

I don’t fully understand your question, since it comes off as very confusing due to being AI generated. I’m not sure how it would suddenly be “simpler” for users to run their own servers, because it would actually make playing games online less freely if you’re planning to host basically all Pretendo Network services, you’re going to need to find users that want to play on your servers.

If you do want to run Pretendo servers yourself, you can use a project that is maintained by one of the developers called Pretendo-Docker.

Hello,

Thank you for your response. English is not my first language, so I used AI to help correct my message. I apologize if my original message was unclear.

My question was actually about why this centralized approach was chosen for the Pretendo servers. I had the impression that Pretendo opted for centralized servers and hadn’t considered providing a tool for self-hosting. In the time between your response and now, I came across Matthew’s post, which answered my question. Your response added even more helpful details, and I appreciate it.
