So I’m pretty new to the whole pretendo thing and so I was like, ok cool. I can play splatoon once again! So I did what anyone would have done. I did a bit more research on it and then followed Srb2Dude’s tutorial (shoutout to him) and I got it working. I ended up playing for the next two days and then was too busy to play for the rest of the week (like 3 more days). So then I picked it back up again and tried to play but then I got the message of them asking me to give them my password that I don’t remember. So I tried all my usual passwords but none of them worked. So I go onto the discord server and see that there was maintenance. So I wait until I see I can play Splatoon again. And the day rolls around and I boot up my Wii U and it asks for my password again. I tried to change it in both the pretendo website and the Wii U and I get it working on the website, but the Wii U still wants an old password. Help. Me. PLEASE.
First, is your Wii U Modded using Aroma CFW with Inkay, or are you using the hackless SSSL DNS method to connect to Pretendo?
Nope it is not modded at all.
Sorry it took me so long to type back. I’m trying to log in on my computer.
If you are using SSSL, it sounds like either:
- The DNS got reset back to auto-obtain, or
- Your ISP is now blocking the DNS redirection (therefore no longer allowing you to connect to Pretendo; this can happen sometimes)
First, check to make sure the DNS did not get removed.
If the DNS for Pretendo is still there, try connecting to a mobile hotspot for a test for your Wi-Fi with the DNS set in your Wii U Internet Settings and see if your (new) password then works.
I went to check the DNS and it had gotten reset. What should it be? Also, thank you so much. You’re the most help I’ve gotten from anyone today.
For the Primary DNS, enter
88.198.140.154. This is the SSSL server.
For the Secondary DNS, enter
9.9.9.9(or another public DNS of your choice).
That’s done now. How should I recover my password?
You should be able to log into your Wii U now with the new password you set on the Website.
I boot up Splatoon and now it’s working again! Thank you!!!
