I have to say, it’s a bit underwhelming that Mario Kart World got about 17 minutes of attention when Splatoon 3 (and I imagine other Switch titles) got over 30. Considering Nintendo considers this game to be high quality by the £75 price tag (I pre-ordered Splatoon 3 at launch for roughly half of that, yes I am being serious), it’s a bit of a shame that we didn’t get more.

First things first, local multiplayer is still at 30fps. I assume it’ll be at that frame rate when you have 3 or 4 players, like 8 did and I think Wii too?

Mission mode being back is cool and I like the idea of stumbling into missions. It’s a shame Switch 2 doesn’t have achievements though from what we know…

Toad’s Factory is confirmed!! The new tracks do look genuinely stunning, although MK8 did too.

Overall, the game looks cool and if I do get a Switch 2, I’ll be getting this. It just sucks that it’s so expensive.

I mean, after all it is a Mario Kart game, it has a whole lot of cool new additions, but Mario Kart is a fairly well known concept unlike Splatoon as an IP. Regardless, it should’ve gotten a bit more time in the spotlight.

Am I not wrong in thinking that the game was running at 1440p60 like a lot of Switch 2 titles? I think the only high frame rate title we’ve seen so far is MP4 at 1080p120?

I think Nintendo confirmed a few days ago that Mario Kart World would run at 1440p if the Switch 2 was docked.

I haven’t seen a single Switch 2 game which is apparently running at 4K yet apart from MP4 afaik? It seems to be all 1440p60 mostly: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Kirby and the Forgotten Land and I’m assuming Mario Kart World are all running at that. At least we don’t seem to be hearing much about DLSS yet?

They should add an item called the “Mystery Blue Shell” Where you will launch a blue shell and it will hit a random racer, could hit a player in last. And then they should do a “Blue Shell Bonanza” item, where it launches 23 blue shells to hit everybody.
