Hello, I have the Netflix app on my Wii U and I think it’s a shame that it doesn’t work. Because Netflix on the Wii U will be pretty cool. Do you have any idea how to bring it back, or will Pretendo Network do it? If there’s already YouTube, the only thing missing is Netflix. Then you don’t need a Fire TV Stick or a smart TV or anything else.
I don’t think that’s feasible. I don’t know the background behind Netflix on Wii U, but I imagine the Wii U can’t really use the modern infrastructure (whereas it can for YouTube).
I doubt it will be brought back: YouTube was only brought back through simply bypassing an error I believe? The YouTube TV app generally is compatible with a bunch of old hardware and you can run it in the Wii U’s web browser anyways.
You’re going to have a much smoother experience watching either YouTube or Netflix on a more up to date device (YouTube is stuck at 720p on Wii U for example and you can’t watch at 2x speed).
Netflix can actually be partially revived.
Bypassing the service token check allows the app to load but only the UI (you can log in, see the catalog, navigate, watch trailers) tho you cant actually watch any content because of some issue relating the browser the Wii U Netflix app uses not supporting Widevine properly.
Unless someone manages to patch Widevine on the Netflix browser RPX (Very difficult) you will only get a version of Netflix that wont allow you watch anything, but hey at least you can see the catalog and trailers (is it really worth it, tho)
