Sometimes I have to take out my 2DS XL’s microSD card to add stuff but the thing is, the system doesn’t always read it when I turn it on after re-inserting and the Pretendo files are on the microSD card so I want to know, what happens if the system doesn’t read the card when using Pretendo? Will it just show nintendo network, or will something else happen? Until i know if it’s safe or not, I will just switch back to nintendo network before removing the microSD card.
Your PNID and Pretendo friend list data are stored on the 3DS NAND, so the data is safe. However, you won’t be connected to Pretendo because the patches that redirect API requests from Nintendo to Pretendo are stored on the microSD card. So, the console will attempt to log into the Nintendo Network using your Pretendo account data, which will just cause an error (IIRC, it shows “access to online services has been restricted by Nintendo” despite this not being an actual ban). It’s safe because everything will be back to normal after you re-insert the microSD card.
OK good but I might still switch to nintendo just to be safe. (Sorry for 2 days late reply, I wasn’t allowed to reply when I wrote this and I saved it as a draft and forgot about it until now)
More context, that message is error code 002-0121.
The ban is 002-0102.
why would you do that tho?
Sometimes I need to add files for stuff that I can’t add from the 3DS itself but I don’t even use the 3DS when no SD card is inserted
