Is doing a system transfer after using Pretendo safe if I switch back to Nintendo Network?

Just curious. My friend did a transfer like this last year in October and i might get a new system at some point.

If you talk about 3ds you can but its recommended to before moddind your new system and then transfering if you talk about wii u its absolutely non recomended as this can brick your new and old system instatly either if both are modded or not back to 3ds i think theres a homebrew tool for that but i do not advise you to as its better to mod your new system and reinstall everything.
Hope this helped

Well I probably won’t get the new system anyways, I’m fine with the 2DS XL I use. But if I did move to another system, i kinda want my old save data and accounts and games and stuff so I don’t have to do a lot of stuff all over again.

System transfers aren’t well-tested on Pretendo, so it’s not recommended. I’d suggest using Checkpoint to back up the save data from the old console and load it on the new one.

You should be able to sign in to your NNID on the new console to redownload your games from the eShop as well. Correction: this would require calling Nintendo customer support to unlink the NNID.

about the nnid, you can’t. the only way to transfer the id is to use system transfer.

I think this post uses a combination of both answers that have been posted here.

Nintendo Homebrew recommends following these steps, however I wouldn’t recommend doing a system transfer in the first place. It is NOT supported on Pretendo and I’m not sure how it would work if you do it on Nintendo. Switching to Nintendo first should be safer, though.

  1. Install CFW on the new console using 3ds.hacks.guide
  2. Do a system transfer normally. Choose “Don’t use the guide” then “PC-based transfer” if asked.
  3. On the new console, download faketik and place faketik.3dsx in the /3ds folder on your SD root.
  4. To access the Homebrew Launcher on the new console, follow Manually entering Homebrew Launcher under Other troubleshooting on the troubleshooting page
  5. Once you are in the Homebrew Launcher, run faketik.
  6. Your Homebrew apps should appear on the homescreen!
