After posting on the forum above, I tried with my friends to see if we could actually play tag matches.
We were not able to match up yet. We were able to team up, and all we had to do was wait for the tag-team matching, but the timer in the upper left corner did not appear, and we got a communication error.
Although the result was disappointing, we were able to meet many friends who wanted to play tag matches. I understand that there is no ETA, but I hope that these results will be of some use and that tag matches will be resumed soon.
Thank you for your continued support!
In the Japanese version of Splatoon it’s called Tag Match, but I don’t know what it’s called in other versions. Sorry.
It just refers to the match that appears in pink at the top when you enter the lobby.
I tried out the Squad match mode yesterday and found that matchmaking is now working. Thank you to the Pretendono team! I can enjoy Splatoon even more now!
Were you definitely able to get into a match? Since the forming squad screen was displaying before to my knowledge (cc @jerrysm64@vyrval) and I’m not aware of any changes that suddenly make Squad Battles work
The reason why it doesn’t work is because Pretendo’s Splatfest matchmaking is broken and since the Squad Battles use the same matchmaking, Squads is broken, too. As of right now there is no way to play Squad Battles on Pretendo.
I also own four Wii U consoles and tested out a 2v2 Squad Match. (Note that even for a 2v2 match, the battle won’t start unless there are eight players total…) After matching, the timer kept running. Previously, the timer wouldn’t start and an error would occur, but this time it was different. (Please forgive me for posting a photo instead of a video.) Also, just before that, I actually matched with two other players besides myself!
