I cant conenct my pnid to my 3ds because of a error: 022-2631

Hello!

I bought a used original Nintendo 3DS and installed Nimbus. I created a PNID on the Pretendo website and successfully linked it to my console. Everything worked correctly.

Later, I realized I wanted to factory reset the console to remove the previous owner’s data, so I did. After the factory reset, I tried linking the same PNID again, but it no longer worked.

I searched online for a solution, and one suggestion told me to create a new NNID while connected to Pretendo. I used the same email address and password as my PNID, but I accidentally chose a different region and nickname. It still didn’t work.

Another suggestion told me to delete that account while still connected to Pretendo through Nimbus, so I did. Looking back, I’m not completely sure I was actually connected to Pretendo’s servers at that point. However, afterward I reinstalled and configured Nimbus correctly, verified that the required Nimbus files were in the 3ds folder, and I’m confident it has been switching servers properly since then.

After that, I tried many other troubleshooting steps that I found online, including another factory reset. I also updated Luma3DS several times (I’m currently on the latest version), updated GodMode9, and ran a few GodMode9 scripts. One script deleted NNID data, and another installed Luma3DS to CTRNAND so the console can boot without the SD card.

I also deleted two pieces of data from SysNAND CTRNAND (following online guides): one that reset the console back to the initial setup, and another that was described as storing NNID-related information. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the exact file names.

At this point, Nimbus appears to be switching servers correctly. When Pretendo is enabled and I open Miiverse, I receive error 015-5015.

When I go to System Settings → Nintendo Network ID Settings and try to link my PNID, I receive error 022-2631.

Also, after the most recent factory reset, I haven’t created a main Mii yet because the console is essentially back at the initial setup.

Is it possible that my console or PNID still has a stale account link from the account I accidentally created and deleted? If so, could someone check whether my console or PNID needs to be reset on the server side, or let me know what I should do next?

k so the first error means that basically the nnid is invalid. the second means the pretendo isnt set uup. first Verify your account details, check Nimbus, and ensure your replacement network ID is correctly created and linked. If that doesnt work create a temp pretendo account on pc with a different email. try logging in. also jtms when you open nimbus on the 3ds, click pretendo, then click miiverse again. The likely culprit is step 3–4 in your story. when you created the “new” account using the same email and password as your original PNID, Pretendo’s backend very likely treated that as the same underlying account (email is usually the unique key, not nickname/region — you just saw a different nickname/region locally because the console hadn’t synced properly). When you then deleted “that” account while possibly not actually connected to Pretendo, one of two things happened:

The delete request went nowhere (if you truly weren’t connected) which means something else is at play or it did go through, and it deleted your original PNID itself server-side, since it was really the same account under the hood.

i used ai to help me fix my problem, well, it did screw me over, thanks for the reply, ill try, btw, what does jtms mean? ANd my pretendo acount is verymuch undeleted because ican still open it in the website. Ok ill send the video now

ok, while im waiting so i cna give u 2 vids explaining more of what i did, i checked again with the entering my pnid correctly, i did but it still showed the same errors and in nimbus pretendo has a green loaded under it so, illl make a temporary pnid to see if that works and ill send u a video of that too

Ok, tried making a burner pnid, it showed the exact same error (i 100% wrote the pnid, password and email right), ill send u the video now and ill see whats with that link

ok, it does not allow me to upload the mp4s sooo, and the link i read it it does not really help, is there anything i can do? in ninbus it shows on the ui if i press x i can unlink my pnid but when i pres the button x it says the 3ds doesent have one and under pretenod it has in green “loaded”

Right, one question, is the error code 022-2613 or 022-2631? If it’s the latter, I am going to request assistance with this.

@dinodinosaur1234 please do not ask AI for assistance with Pretendo. It’s much better just making a post here for assistance or joining the Discord server. I find AI is generally pretty bad at this stuff.

??? they did not provide an error code and there’s no indications of an NNID being invalid. Please don’t respond if you don’t know what you’re doing

hello! I will enter my pnid again to check but im pretty sure its 022-2631. And yeah, i kinda learned this the hard way (not ask ai), tbh i was a little shy to ask but whatewer. So can you help me? Btw i just remembered i was smart enough before makign the first factory reset i made a nand backup with godmode and stored it on the sd and made a sd backup in my computer (this is from the time i got pretendo up and running) and i got this system yesterday and i made the factory reset to wipe the old owners data

and im ok making factory resets or things that would wipe my saves or apps because i dont have any save on my 3ds

Like my ideea is to do a nand back up of this and backup my sd and reload my old nand and my old sd (when pretendo worked). Could it work?

ok, so im now making a bakup of my sd with my sysnand and will load my old sd with my old backup and load that

ok so i loaded my old sd and nand backup, ill connect myself to the internet and sign in to my pnid i have loaded in my 3ds and see if online play works (on mario kart 7) and ill test miiverse and ill write here if it worked
