How to access MH Oldschool Monster Hunter DLC servers for 3DS and WiiU

Please note that this service is not affiliated with Pretendo.

Your 3DS and Wii U must have its DNS set to 34.75.107.68 in your internet settings in order to access the DLC servers.
You can also localy host the DNS server using the mhosdns tool. (read below for more information)
(The DLC server does not work with SSSL on Wii U.)

  • 140-0026 - Occurs when using SSSL

Potential fix for error codes

  • Checking your firewall or router settings and/or contacting your ISP. If you can’t or don’t want to, please host a local DNS server using the tool listed below.

  • For Error Code 090-2441 on 3DS please switch to Nintendo Network and update your game to the latest version.

Hosting your own local DNS server.

Link to the mhosdns tool.
Using it is simple; instead of setting the usual 34.75.107.68 IP address as the DNS server in your network settings, you’ll use your own local DNS IP address (It will be displayed directly in the app). This ensures that your DNS requests are no longer intercepted or tampered with by your ISP, eliminating the need for a VPN.

When are the other games going to be available?

The DLC networking requires connecting to Nintendo Network so no ETA just like the multiplayer servers for the games. Wait for Pretendo to add support for more games first.

If you want to learn more about the download server project, check out the GitHub repository.
If you want to learn more about the mhosdns tool you check out it’s source code.

If you have any questions or run into any error codes not listed here, please leave a reply and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

@GamersInternatio why can’t useful stuff like this be pinned or have its own category? It’s gonna get buried in support requests…

I don’t have permission to make new categories anyways. I can add the guide tag which should help.

Is it mandatory to have a homebrew 3ds for this and if so is there anyway to get the downloaded dlc moved onto an SD card to play on a regular unmodded console, my modded device is an older 3ds and im not gonna be jailbreaking my main 3ds encase of issues.

The DLC should be saved as “Extra Data” which should be on the SD card.

SO theoretically, you can download from the modded 3DS to use it on the unmodded one.

(And just so you know, modding is extremely safe if you just follow the official guide. https://3ds.guide/)

I dont know what im doing wrong but i keep getting the “002-0110” error

Did you set the DNS like explained in the initial post?

Currently Azahar lacks the ability to connect to the DLC server.

Not even by changing the DNS in the in-software Internet Settings tab?
How does Azahar solve domain names?

Azahar receives error code 090-2411 (error code is typically for mismatched game version) when attempting to connect to the download server or get’s stuck infinitely loading with the DNS set to either the MH Oldschool DNS or the mhosdns tool address. This is an issue with just Azahar, Lime3ds and PabloMK7 Citra do not have this issue.

I created a bug report on their github but they have not responded to it yet.

I can’t access dlc it’s always pop error code 090-2415 but dns already setting like this post

Is this MH3U or MH4U (as both games support DLC downloads on 3DS)? And are you on console, or emulator?

Azahar support is iffy atm, it works for some users but not for others.

Could you explain how to do this, or point me in the direction of where I would be able to get this to work? I have two 3DS consoles right now, a New 3DS that is unmodded with MH4U installed from the eShop, and a modded og 3DS. I really want to play on the unmodded system and somehow make the DLC available on that system.
I suppose if absolutely all else fails, I could just host the event quest from the modded 3DS but it would be nice not to have to use 2 3DS’s to play event quests.

I think you need to be modded? I really don’t know how it works, to be honest. :confounded:

Thanks for your answer. Sounds like I’m going to just have my modded 3DS host the event quests for now, since I really don’t want to mod my main console.

Accessing the server requires modding your 3DS as when you attempt to use the DLC menu, the game needs to connect to a NEX server for an initial handshake before being rerouted to
goshawk.capcom.co.jp/CONSOLE/GAME_REGION/webpage_language

Maybe that’s true for MH4U, but I don’t think Pretendo has a server for MH3U I’m pretty sure?

There is a dummy NEX server up for MH3U just so people can access the download server (the NEX server just points to 127.0.0.1). MH3U and MH3G (3DS) did not have any online play and only had online to be able to download event quests from Capcoms servers.

MH3U 3DS did have online play by connecting to a Wii U first

But Pretendo has a NEX server for 3U? I didn’t even know that lol
