How do i selfhost pretendo without a console

Hi, I really like Pretendo Network and the whole project, and I really want to self-host it. But I don’t have a Wii U or 3DS. Is there a way to self-host it with the tools available right now?

I questioned this a hot-minute ago and you need actual hardware you can then get the files from (certifications, etc.) to then use on a computer for emulation purposes

use a emulator but you need a console to get pretendo

you can’t do it in a backwards way like that, no offense. Wii U (physical) → Cemu
you need the actual account files your Wii U generates so you can play online, whether they do this to avoid cheating or to provide legitimacy to each player is under their discretion because it’s their site, their rules.

So i can’t create the files with the server?

The reason consoles are required to use our servers is for security and moderation. We validate console files to help ensure that only clients that are supposed to interact with our servers do (of course there are custom clients that mimic how consoles behave, but this stops trivial API abuse and spam and such). Moderation is the most important aspect though, as the files we require are signed by Nintendo and only they can sign new ones, and each file is uniquely tied to one piece of hardware. This means we can use these files as unique identifiers for consoles to do things like check if an account is tied to multiple consoles at once (which may be a sign of abuse, a bug on our end, a compromised account, etc.), or if a single console is the source of lots of abuse like cheats/bad accounts, issue console bans, etc. Without those measures, alting is trivial and we can’t properly moderate our services

If you don’t care about that you can always just remove those checks. In the early days we also didn’t require these online files, and even provided faked stubbed ones to trick Cemu into going online anyway, but it was immediately abused so we took that away
