Friends chat on Wii u and 3ds

[Feature Request] Safe Chat - Preset Messages for Friends

Hi Pretendo team,

First off, thank you for keeping Wii U online alive!

I have a feature request that would make multiplayer way easier: Safe Chat with preset messages.

The Problem

Right now we have no way to contact friends to play together. We have to use Discord or make public forum posts to ask "who wants to play". This makes organizing games very hard.

Proposed Solution

Add a simple "Safe Chat" system in the Friend List.

How it works:

  1. Go to Friend List → Click a friend
  2. Select a game: [Mario Kart 8] [Splatoon] [Smash 4] [Other]
  3. Select 1 preset message
  4. Friend gets notification on GamePad

Proposed preset messages:

Invite set:

  • Do you want to play?
  • Join me?
  • I'm waiting in the lobby
  • Let's play together?

In-game set:

  • GG - Good game!
  • Rematch?
  • Are you lagging?
  • Thanks for playing!

Status set:

  • Looking for players
  • I'll join in a moment

Why this is safe

  • No free text = no moderation needed
  • Only game-related = no abuse
  • Works in all languages
  • Same as what Switch and PS5 have

This would bring back the social part of Wii U without any risk. Even 4 messages would be a huge improvement.

Lots of people in the community would use this daily.

Thanks for considering it!

I don’t appreciate that you seemingly used AI here (which is against our rules) and don’t have a clue about what you’re talking about with adding options in the friends list which isn’t possible, then claiming the Switch has this functionality (it does not; PS4/5 has a full chat system as well if you’re prepared to hand ID over). Plus you’re pitching in game messages when you can’t even access the HOME Menu to access Friends List/Miiverse when you’re online in some titles…

I hate to say that I do think this is possibly a good suggestion for Juxt but I also think it’s completely unfeasible frankly tbh.

Like @GamersInternatio said*, this is never gonna happen.

They have no way to provide any patches, configurations, or system updates to do this feature. The Switch has no baked in messaging system (unless your talking about games? stuff like mk8d have preset messages already, if you count that), only the Switch 2, if you include GameChat.

This would also need unsafe software modifications if you don’t know what your doing, and would probably brick your Wii U.
