The simple answer is that nobody on the Pretendo dev team knows Ruby, which Discourse is written in, so making a major change to its source code would be quite difficult. Discourse’s plugin API is also very poorly documented.

Discobot is intended to onboard new users mostly anyways and it does a good enough job.

It’s highly unlikely Pretendo is going to make any changes to something like discobot currently given none of the team knows Ruby.

I’m going to close+unlist this post for now given the scenario.
