Do I have to switch back to my Nintendo account to play multiplayer games locally (or download play) and for streetpass for stuff like Mii Plaza?
I think those two different types of accounts can, indeed, play together locally. I’m pretty sure local play has nothing to do with user IDs, so you don’t need to change them at all, and in-person Streetpass still works in full!

Pretendo is only a replacement for Nintendo’s online services. Any offline interactions between consoles are not affected.

@OS91hmbrwID Is correct. Local play is unaffected and you can stay on Pretendo for that.
