Firstly.

Error 006-0612.

Any time I try to connect to a race, or try to connect to my friend (who’s in a community), error 006-0612 pops up no matter what.

Any time I try and join my friend while he’s in a group that’s about to race, “You are unable to join Bran13’s group, please try again later”, every time.

I can’t edit APN settings as I’m using a Vodafone hotspot.

There’s not much documentation on the 2nd error.

I’m not sure where to go from here.

Any suggestions?

My tethered internet connection is WPA2-PSK (AES) if it helps.

When you start your game, what version does it say on the title screen?

Yes, this is currently still an issue. Let me check my game version.

I should’ve mentioned this is Mario Kart 7, my apologies.

A similar issue of not being able to join occurs on Mario Kart 8, but I believe that can be fixed by updating the game (when I can even find a way to update it again).

Back to MK7, using FBI, I found at my MK7 version is 3.5, and when booting into the game, found out my online version is 1.2.

Is that the latest?

Switch to Nintendo servers in Inkay to update MK8 by opening the game on your Wii U.

Yes, that’s the latest game update for MK7.

If you having the same issue on both Wii U and 3DS, could be a NAT issue:

I read the NAT guide.

My 3DS gives the Support Code: 220-01 when connecting to my network, suggesting it has NAT type C (a strict type, possibly blocking my ability to access your network)…

Guess I’ll access 192.168.1.1 to see if I can try port forwarding now…

You can also try calling your ISP (to ask for a better P2P NAT type) or try using a mobile hotspot to see if that improves?

I am using a mobile hotspot because the broadband options in my area are horrible.
