Official Rules for Pretendo Network Forum

Rule 1: Be nice

  • Treat everyone with respect.

  • Do not post content promoting or involving harassment.

    • Witch-hunting and hate speech (including, but not limited to, racism, sexism, homophobia or transphobia), etc. will not be tolerated.

NOTE: Slurs of any kind, even re-claimed slurs, are not allowed. Please refrain from attempting to use them.

Rule 2: No NSFW or inappropriate content

  • Do not post NSFW or obscene content.

    • This includes text, images, or links featuring nudity, sex, hard violence, hard/illicit drugs, or other graphically disturbing content.

      • Mentions of and/or light depictions of alcohol, smoking, and vaping are tolerated. However, excessive discussions or depictions are not allowed.

      • Inappropriate memes or jokes (such as innuendo) are also not allowed.

  • Pretendo Network is not a dating service. E-dating is not tolerated anywhere on the Network.

  • Swearing and other strong language is allowed as long as it is not excessive or used in a way to insult/harm others.

Rule 3: No spamming/self-promotion/Generative AI

  • The Pretendo Network Forum is not a platform to advertise or plug your platforms, including, but not limited to, Discord server invites (other than Pretendo Network itself, or the Nintendo Homebrew server) and social media accounts.

  • If you have something you wish to share with the community, feel free to ask! We love seeing what the community is up to with their own projects!

  • Anything created using Generative AI (“Artificial Intelligence”) is not allowed.

  • Friend codes, PNIDs, Discord usernames, etc. are allowed.

  • Tip: Reacting to a post is very effective! Sometimes a reaction can say more than typing a response, especially if what you had to say is under the 20 character minimum!

  • Also, you are allowed to have your website/YouTube/etc. in your profile’s Bio page where it lets you type in your website (as long as it is still appropriate and follows the rules of our forum.).

Rule 4: Keep Categories and Threads On-Topic

  • Make sure your posts follow or respect the topic of the category/thread.

    • If it’s not on-topic, make a new post (assuming it follows our forum rules!).

NOTE: If you have any issues with payments for donations, please message @category-moderators privately and you can be assisted there.

Rule 5: No piracy

  • Do not post (share, discuss, or allude to) content that promotes or mentions piracy.

    • This includes, but is not limited to, game/firmware dumps, any parts of any console SDK, piracy websites, piracy homebrew apps etc.

      • If it feels illegal, it probably is.

        • If you aren’t sure, don’t share it.

    • This rule applies to all copyrighted content - not just video games!

  • Leaked content also falls under this rule. Do not discuss anything about it.

  • If you see someone asking for help or discussing about piracy, do not assist them and please report the posts instead.

  • We take the enforcement of Rule 5 very seriously. All violations of this rule will result in moderation action.

Rule 6: No false reporting

  • Please do not use the Flag post feature to deliberately report innocent posts as abuse.

Rule 7: Do not test the rules

  • Evading, bending, or exploiting “loophole(s)” in the rules is still considered breaking them.

  • Staff is free to deliver punishments wherever and whenever they see fit.

    • If you believe your punishment is unfair, do not post it on the Forum publicly—instead, submit your appeal to the @ban-appeals or @category-moderators inboxes.

  • Do not make posts asking why someone is banned, as it will not be responded to.

Rule 8: No API-abuse or abusing bugs

  • Pretendo Network, and all it’s services, are still in varying levels of development.

    • While we do our best to prevent issues, bugs may still occur.

      • If you encounter a bug, please report them on GitHub.

      • If you encounter an exploit, please report it to @category-moderators on the Pretendo Network Forum so it can be raised internally.

Rule 9: No drama

  • Please do not start or bring drama from other places, or post content involving any specific individual(s) on Pretendo Network as a whole (including the Forum, Juxtaposition, or Discord).

NOTE: Due to past incidents of drama, we are now disallowing discussions and advertisements of Minecraft Wii U SMPs here on both Juxtaposition and the Pretendo Network Forum.

Rule 10: No cheating online/promotion of cheating

  • Do not post cheat clients/plugins, codes, or hacks with the intent of disrupting online experience on Pretendo Network.

    • We have a zero-tolerance policy against cheating; therefore, account and console bans are applied to keep Pretendo Network a fun experience!

  • Non-cheat related mods/projects may fall under these rules as well if they pose a risk to either user data or the online experience of others (for example, a bot which creates bad DataStore data, or a tool that uses an account’s raw credentials).

  • Cheats or mods that don’t harm the online experience (cosmetic cheats, optimization mods, save editing, etc.) are allowed to be shared and discussed unless otherwise forbidden by the Development team or the Network Moderation team.

  • Please, do not use Pretendo Network Forum to post cheated records online to the leaderboards (e. g. Mario Kart 8 Time Trials).

    • If you are not sure, feel free to ask the @ban-appeals group inbox.

  • Note: Private/Friend Rooms (including Minecraft) are largely unmoderated – remember to only add people you trust!

Rule 11: Spoilers

  • In order to prevent people from being unwantedly spoiled, if you think your post will reveal secrets of a game or its story, please blur the text to indicate it can be potentially-spoiling.

  • This rule also applies to other newly-released media as well.

Rule 12: No personally-identifying information

  • Please, do not post your own or others’ sensitive/personally-identifying information (PII) on Pretendo Network Forum (or anywhere else)!

  • Do not post images of yourself or non-public figures.

  • Doxxing is not tolerated and will result in a ban.

Rule 13: No politics

  • Pretendo Network Forum is not a place to rant about or discuss controversial political topics, so please refrain from posting about them. Such topics often encourage uncivil responses.

Rule 14: No misinformation/bad advice

  • As this is a community about modding consoles, please refrain from fear-mongering or repeatedly posting false information about modding

    • Ex: “Don’t update or you will brick!”, “Retroarch bricks your console!”, etc.

  • Do not recommend video guides, as we don’t endorse them.

  • This rule also applies to real life, so please don’t post harmful misinformation or conspiracy theories on any of our other platforms either.

Note: if you actually need help with Pretendo, ask here on the Forum in the Support category, or on Discord. If it’s homebrew related, join the Nintendo Homebrew Discord server for advice. Keep in mind we will not assist with piracy (see rule 5).

Rule 15: No impersonation

  • Pretending to be Nintendo, a Nintendo individual, a Nintendo-related entity, or a public figure is strictly prohibited.

    • Even if it’s explicitly clear that it’s a parody – it is still not allowed in any way.

      • However, fictional characters are allowed.

  • To keep the community safe, impersonating other community members is also not allowed.

These rules are subject to change at anytime. It is recommended consulting them on occasion in the future as it is your responsibility to adhere to them.
