Wii U Day/Night theme

Is a dynamic time of day Wii U theme available or possible?
For example – at 5:00 AM it’ll be dark blue, at 12:00 PM it’ll be white, and at 7:00 PM it’ll be orange? And maybe have a dynamic theme as well?

I have a Wii U, and without a modified theme on my console, I can say the original theme is not dynamic.

If there is a dynamic theme someone has made with homebrew out there, it would be a good idea in my opinion!

Hmm, that’s a pretty cool idea. I imagine it wouldn’t be too hard to make a version of SDCafiine that checks the current time before loading a modpack.

its harder than you might think
probably only possible if men.rpx (Wii U Menu executable) was somehow binary patched to include this check but yeah thats already something hard to think about :sob: i dont think aroma plugins can communicate with the wii u menu in that way to modify it

The Wii U custom themes guide does use SDCafiine to patch the Wii U Menu, so I think this would be possible.

Is there a way to change my wii u’s theme without ftpiiu as i cant use my pc and wii u at same time btw can the method be non brickable bc obviusly i dont wanna brick my console cuz i dont know how to use cemu and because i want it living

it only modifies assets tho

this day/night functionality needs an patch to the executable itself, which is really hard to do

that guide and most mods only patch music/assets

Yeah I agree, this doesn’t seem super trivial? I don’t think it’s worth the effort personally. Maybe Maschell would have a better idea if Aroma would be of use here? I doubt it though

I think we’re thinking about slightly different things. I was just thinking SDCaffiine could apply a different modpack depending on the time of day when it loads the pack. It would be like having a different default modpack set during different times of the day. This would use a different theme depending on the time of day, but it would require a restart to actually change the theme.

You’re thinking of a dynamic theme patch for the menu that changes the theme by itself, which I understand could have seamless transitions but would be more complicated.

I’m talking about a Tomodachi-Life-ish day-night cycle

Fair, making a seamless day-night cycle like that would definitely be more complex than just applying a different theme modpack depending on the time. It would be cool though! Maybe you could even give the Miis a sleeping animation or something like that.

is there a way to have custom music on wii u without the ftp client method?
