Because it just isn’t that popular on Pretendo. That’s why there are only a few players.

Plus, lobbies are separated by DLC/non-DLC which splits up the player-base further.

Yeah that’s a thing built into the game too. Nintendo did that.

Incorrect. On original MK8, if you do not have the DLC, you cannot play with people that do.

But people with DLC can play with those who do not. That’s why it has to be separated, and Nintendo built in a feature to create DLC lobbies and non-DLC lobbies.
