Trying to load Juxt on 3DS with Pretendo leaves it stuck on a white screen and has to be shutdown to excape

So I just installed Pretendo on my N2DSXL but when I try to use Miiverse/Juxt, it gets stuck on a white screen and the only way to get out is to hold down the power button. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have not downloaded Rverse before and I checked to see if I have the patch files and I do, I also verified my email. Please help

Hello. I haven’t really hard of this before, but before trying anything let’s gather some data:

  1. What is your 3DS system firmware version? You can see it in System Settings.
  2. What is your Luma3DS version? You can check by:
    a. Turn off 3DS
    b. Hold SELECT and turn it on; there will be a part on the top screen with the Luma version

This part you can try now and see if it fixes it:

  1. Reinstall Nimbus from Universal Updater (no need to uninstall it; simply reinstall it).

Luma: v13.3.2
3DS Firmware: 11.17.0-50U
I have already tried re-installing Nimbus, didn’t work

When you open the Luma configuration menu (the place where you saw the Luma version), were the first 2 options selected?

Yes, both patching settings were selected

Hmm I am unsure what to do. Let me ask some people who are smarter than myself.

Okay one of the Discord mods had the same problem and this is what fixed it for them (hopefully for you as well):

  1. Access your SD card (either by putting it in the PC or by FTP, your choice)
  2. Navigate to SD:/luma/ and then rename (DO NOT DELETE) the ā€œtitlesā€ folder into something like ā€œtitles old backupā€ because we’re preventing data loss
  3. Reinstall Nimbus again to remake the titles folder and re-get the patches

It’s possible something in that folder is corrupted and we’re starting over (while keeping the folder as a backup if necessary.

Follow every step, did not work. Are you sure that they had the same/similar description of the problem? With the music still playing and on the white screen with lines?

Yeah that’s what he said he had.

I don’t know how to fix this yet… :fearful:

Here’s an idea. Try this:

  1. Switch to Nintendo in Nimbus
  2. Try doing a system update in system settings

It’s possible that somehow a system file was corrupted (like for Miiverse) and a System Update can repair that.

Can you try that and tell me if that fixes it? (After switching Pack to Pretendo after the update, of course).

Are you 101% that’s safe? I don’t wanna risk updating, even though my luma is in the (current) latest version, also im pretty Miiverse still ā€œworksā€ in NNID mode

Is this N2DSXL system region-changed or anything like that?

Not to my knowledge, it was modded before I bought it but it so idk if it is region changed but probably not

When trying to update it says "error trying to update, system will now restart

Very odd. And nobody else seems to know right now, either. :confounded:

Okay, can you check Luma3DS configuration screen and see if Booted from SD via B9S is enabled

Yes, it is ā€œBooted from SD via B9Sā€, sorry for long wait i kinda forgot about this thread

I’m pretty sure that this may just be a case of technology not working. When the Miiverse/Juxt applet starts on ā€œinit 1ā€, the title is applied and an attempt connection to the Pretendo Servers begins (that takes approx. 4000ms, depending on your upload/download speeds), in this case nginx as a client return border is experiencing a constant timeout, basically:

3DS: Found Title! Init con::1
nginx: Gateway Timeout, (due to unstable token authentication)

The error may not be displayed due to a myriad of reasons.

This may be fixed in a future Nimbus or server rendition update, but for now I can tell you with confidence, this won’t fix itself.

A possible fix could be to check your NAT Type:

Once determined, you may enable port-forwarding, if you wish.

Then again, this may not be a server error, yet a frontend response error or a fault in Luma, as you stated:

If I were to guess, there could have been some tampering with the region, this could lead to corrupted title variations, dirty bits, etc.

Please update me if there is a fix, but otherwise this could be the current solution

I ran into the same problem on a N3DS XL. I’m on Luma v13.3.2 (from Universal Updater). I also installed Nimbus from UU too.

I tried reinstalling Nimbus, switching to Nintendo Network and initiating a system update, renaming ā€˜luma/titles’ and reinstalling Nimbus.

I checked my NAT type, and it’s a type B (but I’m using my phone’s personal hotspot for wifi :grimacing:, since my router doesn’t like the 3DS).

I’m not sure what else to try.

I’m not sure how the NAT type makes any difference in this scenario anyways given that this isn’t P2P?
