I’m piggy-backing on this thread as a new Pretendo user having the same issue.
I’m getting the same 118-0502 error when I try to start a regular battle on Splatoon. When I test my Internet connection I get Support Code: 112-02.
My Internet firewall doesn’t support UPnP or have an ALG. So I tried forwarding UDP ports 34444-65535, but it didn’t help. I can’t really forward all UDP ports as I have other stuff behind my firewall - but I might try that tomorrow or the next time I have a chance (don’t get many opportunities for downtime unfortunately).
I’m using the LAN Adapter to connect my Wii U. I don’t know if that makes any difference? The error in Splatoon seems to come back very quickly. Either there’s a very small timeout or something isn’t even trying to connect like it should…
I tried multiple times across ~45mins without success. I rebooted the Wii U 2-3 times. I didn’t reboot my router.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I was really hoping Pretendo would revive my old Splatoon game. Thanks!
