So I’m kind of curious on what everyone’s thoughts are on modding my Nintendo 3DS. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Nintendo 3DS, and I’ve seen all sorts of cool stuff you can do with a modded system nowadays that still keeps this wonderful handheld alive, like using Miiverse again (man I really miss that place). However, I honestly feel more comfortable modding a second system versus my main one since it has already been bricked and lost the memory once (which I ended up transferring as far back from my original Nintendo 3DS from 2011), and I would really hate to relive the nightmare all over again. However if this happens to a second one, it’s not the end of the world for me. I just want to know if this is either a fair or a really dumb decision I’m going to end up regretting.
I’d say you should just use your main system. It’s not too difficult to get it modded (not as easy as Wii U or how it used to be imo) and the brick risk is generally pretty low if you follow the guide correctly.
Ah okay, well that’s good to know at least. Thank you!
If it makes you feel any better I had no Idea what I was doing and managed to install everything properly. Also the universal updater has lots of useful programs that help expand online experience.
Ah okay, well that’s pretty neat! What kind of useful programs does the universal updater have if you don’t mind me asking?
Netpass
Virtualboy emulator (very cool in 3d)
Save editors
And other home brew software.
For a lil more detail:
Netpass lets you streetpass online
Red Viper lets you emulate Virtual Boy games in full stereoscopic 3D or use an anaglyph system on a 2ds, think 3D glasses
The best save editor adjacent program is Checkpoint, which comes with your Luma3DS installation. It’s the quickest way to extract your save for a save editor and it’s where you choose your cheats for the cheat menu in Rosalina
I’d also recommend checking out CTRRGBPat2, which lets you customize your notification light’s animation
