Does the recently launched online play only work if I have my game updated to welcome amiibo? I really hope I can play with just regular New Leaf since a lot of the WA updates just stress me out. But I’m being told the Pretendo network only works with welcome amiibo? Any info on this would be appreciated thanks.
I don’t think it’s restricted to Welcome Amiibo, but please just update to version 1.5. It allows everyone to have a better experience online and there’s really no reason not to update. You may experience various errors by not updating.
Online (generally) works so you can only connect to people of the same software version.
Without the Welcome Amiibo update, you will likely never find anyone, to be honest. Nearly everyone is using Welcome Amiibo.
What about WA “just stress you out”? I don’t know the game so I am genuinely curious. Maybe talking about that will help understand it.
