I don’t love the Wii U or 3DS web browsers, and while looking into alternatives—besides running Linux on my Wii U and using Firefox—I came across a post here a couple of months ago discussing how difficult it would be to port a modern web browser to the Wii U. I believe that, and I’m guessing it’s partly because of how heavy modern browsers are. That was pretty much the end of it for me—until recently.
I found a browser called Puffin. It’s lightweight enough to run on a Raspberry Pi because it offloads most of the work to cloud servers. Now, I don’t know coding or web development, so the only thing I can really do with this info is draw attention to it and hope someone out there might be interested in seeing whether it’s possible to port a version of the app to the Wii U—or maybe even see whether or not there’s a way to run Pi apps on the Wii U (though I doubt there’s an emulator for that).
