PSA: Splatoon 1 uptick in error 104-1209 messages

I’ve been monitoring the Discord lately and I’ve noticed the error code 104-1209 appear out of nowhere. I haven’t seen any reports of this on the forum, but this error code was basically never mentioned until yesterday.

We don’t currently know why this issue happens, but we will post any updates we get regarding this here (we have no ETA for when it will get resolved). I think it’s possible that this issue primarily affects SSSL.

If you’re experiencing this issue, please report it in this thread (please try clearing shared save data before reporting though). We don’t currently have any fix to resolve this, but if you’re using SSSL, using Inkay instead usually fixes the issues (see https://wiiu.hacks.guide to install custom firmware on your Wii U).

Please share this data when reporting: the method that you’re accessing Pretendo through (SSSL or Inkay), the version of Splatoon you’re running and the region for your copy of Splatoon and your console.

No. I don’t have any special privileges on the Discord (or anywhere else on the Pretendo Network, see my profile bio) for being a forum mod (and I don’t particularly believe it’s worth giving me any currently when I would be the only person to benefit from it anyways (sure it would be helpful for some stuff but I’m not that bothered). I did send a message in the #pretendo channel linking to this thread, but that’s it (and it probably got buried anyways).

The issue might actually be fixed already anyways. Don’t see anyone mentioning it being fixed on Discord yet, but @PN_Jon did put out this message earlier.

If anyone is still experiencing this issue, please reply to the thread.

Looks like Discord is still getting reports about this. Haven’t seen anything here but I’ll pin the thread for now (cc @MatthewL246_PNID).

If anyone is experiencing this, use this fork of HokakuCafe GitHub - ashquarky/HokakuCafe: On-console network traffic dumper for the Wii U and get a full dump (Mode set to ALL) that captures the error happening, and get in contact with me on Discord. This will create a pcap of your HTTP traffic as well as the relevant SSL information needed to decrypt it, which would likely give us a better idea as to what might be going on

I just got an 104-1209 error.

First time trying Pretendo on Splatoon (1). Using SSSL. No idea how to fix.

Spent the last few hours fixing various issues to play splatoon, and this is my newest error message. I’m using inkay, on a european console and obviously a copy of the game from the same area. Game is physical, if that matters at all. Happy to help with the process of troubleshooting this issue however I can.

Can you follow the troubleshooting steps Jon sent above? It would really help the team if we have this information.

The error code “104-1209” was damaged. I am using SSSL. I reconnected the WiFi, but the problem was not resolved. Please take this problem seriously.

I can assure you that people are taking this seriously but we don’t have the information on why this is happening.

Binaries weren’t precompiled on the GitHub repository which probably didn’t help when trying to collect data but a Discord user just compiled them.

got this error code, first time trying to play using pretendo… using sssl , physical eu copy. hope it gets resolved soon :frowning:

Hello, I used the SSSL method for Splatoon 1 and got this error. I have a physical copy with version 2.12.1, NA region, and the 32gb Wii U. I will appreciate your help!

Trying to connect online to splatoon for Wii U with using inkay but it doesn’t work

Hearing that it’s an uptick error, I had hoped that I wouldn’t have to deal with it anymore once I homebrewed :sweat:

My console and game (Splatoon) are both North American

I’m connected to pretendo, I can view and post on mii verse and I have been deleting shared save data before booting the game

Is there anything else that I can do from here?

Are you able to collect a dump by any chance? I think @PN_Jon might still be looking for information which would be helpful.

Also getting this error in North America. First time connecting to pretendo eveyrthing went alright up until here. Clearing shared data and testing connection does nothing
