Prove Pretendo is safe to friend

I have this friend I have been trying to get to join Pretendo Network but they don’t trust me that it is safe, how can I prove it is safe?

I think inheritantly it’s important to note that modding your console is always a risk: it violates Nintendo’s end user license agreement and you should always be careful with what you install on a modded console.

However, we do care about security at Pretendo. Here’s some of the things we’ve done in the past and some general things you should know:

  • Developed RCE patches for both Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 whilst the ENLBufferPwn vulnerability was not patched (it took 8 months for Nintendo to patch this and Pretendo had a patch for modded users from practically day 1 of it being exposed)
  • Some games are not open to public matchmaking due to RCE vulnerabilities
  • Pretendo is open source so you can inspect our code
  • Our developers honestly care at making sure that services remain secure

Personally I never felt that it was unsafe because of how many users there are and that a lot of “popular” YouTube channels I watch have made videos on it (GVG, GameXplain, Modern Vintage Gamer, streamers, etc). And the benefits of getting online play again outweighed the concern of any problems for me lol
