So basically, I’ve had this issue where, in games such as Super Mario Maker and Mario Kart 8, I am able to access the online menus no problem. The problem arises when I attempt to go further. In the case of the former, attempting to load into the 100 Mario Challenge, Makers and Courses tab loads infinitely, and attempting to exit out of the game to the Home Menu softlocks the console. In the case of the latter, it isn’t as dramatic, in the sense where the game simply can’t find any players.
Mind you, I exported my old active save from a NNID enabled account to my current PNID enabled one using SaveMii, so perhaps this could be the culprit.

Pretendo is far from complete, some of these features are not yet available to the public. Just be patient. 
As for the courses tab not working, I’m not so sure.
In Super mario maker, if you are unable to access the popular level with an abnormally long loading time. Here’s a tip, 1. Disconnect the internet… This will cause an error message on your WiiU, like an error has occurred (for example). 2.Then immediately reconnect your internet, immediately restarting game mode. Use this trick using SSL method.
Probably should specify that I’m using Aroma and the latest version of the Inkay plugin.
Still having issues today… I would try the new Minecraft servers out to see if the same happens, but sadly, I don’t have any friends to test that out with so… yeah…
Maybe search for others that are online at the same time as you.
Hey dude did you ever figure this out? I haven’t tried Mario maker yet but every time I try to close a game it soft locks for me as well, but only on download games not disc games. I can’t find help for this anywhere. I have Aroma. I don’t even know if it’s a Pretendo issue or not. Is there a way to disable Pretendo and re enable Pretendo to test it?
Alright so I thought I’d try and delete the transferred Mario Maker save from my Pretendo account and start from scratch. Surprisingly, it finally loaded the Courses Tab. I then remembered my save file had records from my other NNID account, so my theory is that the game tries to load content that it cannot access under Pretendo, and therefore softlocks.
