Firstly apologies if this has already been posted, I don’t think I have seen anything recent with this issues so I hope this post is okay. I am experiencing issues with my Pretendo SPR and now issues with Mii Plaza per the title, and I’m not sure if something is possibly wrong with my SD card? Also sorry for the length, this is going to be pretty long.
The issue that began first is my Pretendo SPR. I went on a short trip from May 8-10, before the trip it was working fine, I would usually get a handful of passes (I have over 60 friends) every time I’d put my 3ds in sleep mode within 20-30 minutes at the most. During the trip, I had my 3ds with me but turned off the entire time. The next time I turned it on was May 11 at home, immediately after opening it from sleep mode I got Netpass and Pretendo SPR passes, but after that one time it had been taking me ages leaving my 3ds in sleep mode to get any at all, like just under 24 hours worth of waiting.
I use Netpass SPR in tandem with Pretendo SPR so I did some testing to see if it would fix anything:
- I tested Netpass SPR by itself (Pretendo integrations off & Netpass patches turned on in settings), it works fine
- I tested Netpass SPR and Pretendo SPR together (Pretendo integrations & Netpass patches both turned on in settings), Netpass SPR still works fine and I was able to get a tiny handful of Pretendo SPR passes, I think only 2 appeared in Mii Plaza. Has to open Netpass to retrieve the Pretendo passes I got from this method. Before these issues started, I wouldn’t need to open Netpass at all, my SPR passes from both sources would immediately show via the notification on the game(s) using streetpass.
- I have tested Pretendo SPR by itself (Pretendo integrations off & Netpass patches turned off in settings, as well as Netpass completely deleted from my 3ds), so far I haven’t gotten any SPR passes from this at all but am trying to wait even longer to see if it does anything. (Edit: Please see my comments below, I do manage to get 1 Pretendo SPR pass via this method, but it takes hours to get a single pass, and I still need to open Netpass to retrieve it.)
- I followed the solution instructions in this post (Pretendo integrations turned on & Netpass patches turned off in settings), it did manage to get me some Pretendo SPR passes but only after 20 hours of waiting in sleep mode, and I had to open Netpass in order to get them. However, the Pretendo people I passed did not show up in Mii Plaza at all, and seems like they only do half the time since I began experiencing these issues. I mentioned doing this in the Netpass discord and was told it’s not the best advice to have integrations on & patches off by a mod: “If you enable the Pretendo integration setting, you are asking the NetPass server to talk to the Pretendo server to fetch your Pretendo SPR passes from there. Once it does that, your Pretendo SPR passes won’t be available there any more because they got moved to the NetPass server, and you will only receive them via NetPass. That is a good idea if you also enabled NetPass SPR so you get both your NetPass and Pretendo passes in one go. But it is a bad idea if you don’t want to use NetPass or its SPR implementation.”
- On top of all that I have also reseated my battery which resulted in me receiving some more Pretendo SPR passes but again, none of the people showed up in Mii Plaza but did in Tomodachi Life (the only game I use SPR in general for).
- I deleted the Netpass SPR file in my SD card yesterday in case it was messing with Pretendo SPR but was told in the Netpass discord it shouldn’t have messed with anything. I also deleted the whole Netpass folder in config in general afterward, still shouldn’t have messed with Pretendo though.
I’ve checked my Luma settings & 3ds sys (latest version for both), sysmodules, titles, and Juxt, and I don’t see any error messages.
So uhhh. Is my SD card somehow corrupted? I have no clue how any of these issues started or how to fix it. I do have a SD card backup from April 19, before this all started. Should I use that??
Any advice would be deeply appreciated. I am very confused lol. Sorry for the length of this again. Edit: I can also provide any pictures/more info if needed, if so please let me know. I am also able to add friends/view my friends just fine, and when my 3ds is on & open I am able to view the flashing orange light when a friend is online. I also tried redownloading Nimbus (though without completely deleting it first, just downloading from Universal Updater while it is already installed).

The SD card thing appears to be some kind of NetPass issue. For some reason, that error has been appearing seemingly-randomly for a lot of individuals since NetPass v1.0.0.
I would ask in the NetPass server specifically about Mii Plaza and the SD card issue with SpotPass, as they are almost certainly related.
Thanks Joshua, yes I just recently looked in the Netpass server again and saw people post about that, so I will ask there.
Do you or any devs, if they have seen my post, have any idea what to do about my Pretendo SPR? When I was on my trip from May 8-10 I didn’t have it turned on at all, but I took a train and had to run to it while my 3ds was in my backpack & turned off. Do you think that might’ve caused any physical hardware issue or something? Kinda grasping at straws here lol.
Editing: Well I just powered off & powered on my 3ds again and both Mii Plaza issues (deleted puzzle swaps, SD card error) both went away thankfully. Still stuck on what to do about Pretendo. I connect to the internet fine, and don’t have error messages for my friends list and Juxt. I currently have Pretendo integration & patches turned off in Netpass settings to try to get a genuine Pretendo SPR pass without Netpass interference, but no luck so far.
Edited my post to remove the Mii Plaza issues, seems like it’s fine now.

If a TDLR is needed:
Prior to May 11 if I were to keep my 3ds in sleep mode for 20 minutes, I’d get 6-10 Pretendo SPR passes. Post May 11, I need to keep my 3ds in sleep mode for hours to hopefully get any Pretendo SPR passes, and that is only if I use it at the same time as Netpass SPR (edit: please see comments further down for update on this). And I must open Netpass in order to retrieve these passes. The Pretendo people only show up in Mii Plaza part of the time. I am still trying to use Pretendo SPR without Netpass SPR enabled, but have not gotten any passes through Pretendo alone yet. (Again, please read further comments.)
I have tried troubleshooting as described in my bullets above but nothing worked. I can confirm Netpass SPR and local streetpass works fine, it’s just Pretendo having issues. To me, it seems like there is something possibly blocking my Pretendo SPR causing some sort of significant delay, and I don’t know what caused it or how to fix it.
Might be some kind of intereference from Netpass.
This is what I recommend:
- Re-install Nimbus
- Re-install Netpass
- Open Netpass, install patches
- Netpass Settings
- click on Update Patches
- Press B to CANCEL it which will uninstall Netpass patches and hopefully keep the Pretendo one.

Thank you again, I have reinstalled both of them multiple times already but this time tried deleting Nimbus as well before reinstalling. I will update you if anything happens & will include photos of my “titles” and “sysmodules” folder files below (both photos taken after I deleted the Netpass patches):
Weirdly enough when I had Pretendo integration on & Netpass patches deleted, I was able to get some Pretendo SPR passes after waiting a couple hours but only after I opened Netpass. I pasted the Netpass discord mod’s explanation for why that is under bullet point #4 in my main post. However, I was advised by this same mod to also turn OFF Pretendo integration (in addition to the deleted patches) so that only Pretendo SPR would be running on my 3ds. I have kept it in sleep mode for the same amount of time, a couple hours, but haven’t gotten a single Pretendo SPR pass.
The Netpass mod also thought that this is an issue being caused by Pretendo, but you seem to think it is being caused by Netpass, so I am still confused. lol
I recommend keeping Pretendo integrations off because you don’t want them going through NetPass servers.
Nobody else has reported anything like this with Pretendo SPR. When I had issues with it, it was because of NetPass before v1.0.1 was released.
Actually, can you check something for me? Do you get an error when opening Friend List?
Sorry that was my bad, I just realized there was a typo, I just changed it to “off” right before you posted this comment. And yes, I have been keeping it off, though I did have integration turned on for about 2-3 hours yesterday just to double check that Pretendo SPR was working if Netpass SPR was also enabled, which I detailed above.
I did check both my friends list and Juxt right after redownloading Nimbus when following your instructions, and neither have an error.
Actually, this may be a Pretendo issue.
I have not got any SPR passes today. A few others have not either.
Would you be willing to update me here if you find out any more info? I’ve been experiencing this for nearly 2 weeks already, so that helps me feel less alone in this. lol
2 Weeks? Well you had this SD card issue until today. could be a coincidence.
I only got the Mii Plaza SD card issue today, haven’t gotten in any other day within the past 2 weeks. I didn’t turn on my 3ds at all from May 13-17 as I was recovering from a minor medical procedure, but when I turned my 3ds on again on the 18th sure enough the Pretendo SPR issues were still there.
I think you were right about the Mii Plaza SD card issue being Netpass related, if that helps. Haven’t experienced it again, I think I got it fixed now.

Now that I think about it, I have not gotten any StreetPasses for Team Kirby Clash Deluxe for a while now, and I used to get them daily.
I was told by the same Netpass discord mod that Sorunome (Netpass’ lead developer/creator) did some tinkering on Netpass servers specifically for Netpass SPR 2 weekends ago, which is when I went on my trip, from May 8-10. The evening of May 7 both SPRs were working normally, then when I turned on my 3ds again the afternoon of May 11 immediately after turning it on I got my normal amount of Pretendo SPR passes, but then barely any since (and only when Netpass SPR is also enabled).
(Edit: Please view my comment a couple below this one, upon further testing it seems with Pretendo integration & Netpass patches both turned off, I am able to get 1 Pretendo pass every couple hours. But I need to open Netpass to retrieve it. On top of that, it is still a 50/50 chance the person I receive from getting Pretendo SPR passes this way will show up in Mii Plaza.)
So I had been asking for help in the Netpass discord before trying here, because I thought that maybe Sorunome might’ve messed with something related to Pretendo SPR. But no one else in their discord seems to be experiencing this? I had also thought that maybe something happened to my 3ds battery while traveling, and I read the SPR FAQ here on the forums, so I reseated my battery which did seem to trigger my normal Pretendo SPR passes just once, but then this issue resumed.
So after all that I tried troubleshooting both SPRs which is how I discovered Netpass SPR works fine, Pretendo SPR kind of works but takes a long time to get anything only if Netpass SPR is also enabled, but Pretendo SPR by itself doesn’t seem to get anything.
I hope this all makes sense lol. Trying to describe it the best I can.

Hey. Something that might be worth trying.
After Disabling Pretendo Integrations and disabling Netpass Patches, I would re-install Nimbus one more time. Just to make sure nothing NetPass could be affecting.
Though I strongly suspect this is NetPass now. For reasons I posted in the NetPass server support channel (my Pretendo SPRs are coming in via Netpass despite having integrations off…)
Interesting, I have been keeping my 3ds in sleep mode with integrations off & patches disabled for ~6 hours now, but just opened Netpass and got 2 Netpass passes which appeared in Mii Plaza, but when I opened Tomodachi Life I had 3 boats. I think one of those boats may have come from a Pretendo person but I’m not 100% sure I recognize the island name. And if the person who owns the 3rd island was indeed from Pretendo, they still did not show up in my Mii Plaza - just the Netpass people.
Anyway, I just reinstalled Nimbus and will update if I get anything, and will keep an eye on the Netpass discord to see what they say to you.
Did your Pretendo passes show up in Mii Plaza?
Okay, so, soru hasn’t read the entire thread, but here are a few bullet points that are probably relevant:
- if you deactivated the pretendo integration within netpass, it is off. Which integrations exist and which one are on/off are dynamically fetched from the server, meaning it is impossible for data to get out of sync there. Just as an extra precaution we had asked for your mac and soru manually checked the database again to confirm that the integration for you is, indeed off.
- Just deleting the patch files will not remove NetPass spr. For that, you have to go through the settings and remove them (available from v1.0.1) by pressing B on the update patches thingy. This is because of how BOSS caches its task, and removing them that way removes the BOSS cache for the spr task so that the endpoint url is re-fetched again.
- opening netpass has nothing to do with pretendo
if you properly removed the NetPass patches via the in-app thingy then there is literally no way netpass can interfer with anything anymore, so if the issue still persists even then, then it is an issue on the pretendo side.
