Nintendo Switch 2 discussion

With the recent reveal of the Switch 2, I would like to make a thread dedicated to discussing it.

It looks cool, I’m interested to see how it’ll work with magnets for the JoyCons and backwards compatibility is appreciated.

You’re welcome to share what you’d consider to be spoilers in this thread, but I would advise you to use the spoiler tag to filter it out (add a content warning too please).

I would also like to use this space to remind you that you can discuss Directs here: Nintendo Direct Discussion

Mentions about release date leaks

I have to say, it does look plausible to be releasing in June considering the Direct and opportunities to try out the console is happening in April which is 2 months away from June.

A June release date seems quite odd for Nintendo though, it feels like it’s usually in the autumn months.

The switch two looks like it may be having Hall effect sticks which may fix the switch’s horrendous stick drift. the universe is healing, lads.

the “2” in the name makes it such a lazy name
I’m gonna say they took 10 seconds to come up with this shitty name

Yeah, I wonder if it’s gonna be like a Wii U situation. at least it’s backwards compatible with most Nintendo switch games regardless of if they were a cartridge or digital game. I probably won’t get one for a couple of years. Maybe when Nintendo axes the original switch.

I’m still wondering about that “C” button on the right controller.
Nintendo never announced its function. I’m assuming it’s a chat button or another capture button, as the leaks say.

I have a theory.

I’m not sure how familiar everyone is with the Lenovo Legion Go, but they use magnetic controllers and one feature of them is to use them as a mouse.

Perhaps C is a cursor button?

The new character designs in the Mario Kart teaser suggest that the game will pay homage to previous games in the series, such as Super Circuit. Mario looks a bit different too, he looks more like he did in SMB Wonder.

I mean isn’t it the same thing with the Wii U just adding a U to the name?

It didnt use a number tho

Nintendo never used numbers to name sequels of their consoles (Correct me if im wrong)

It doesnt feel original at all, which is something i dislike from the new console…

Other than that it does look promising, its modern design makes me think its prob going to be powerful

i like the console but, Switch 2 is kinda a bad name to choose nintendo, its kinda repeating their own mistake, other than that, the consoles great

It’s looking EXTREMELY promising. Will it be a flip or a flop?

If the price is right, it looks like it will not fail

The connector that connects the magnetic joy cons to the console, its like something can fail with that, because it sticks out.

We better see Pauline in Mario Kart 9, with New Donk City as a map, playing “Jump Up, Superstar!” as the theme., if you could do that Nintendo, you could say my hat is off to you!

I would say the name makes it extremely clear to consumers that this is a new console. It’s not going to be a 3DS or Wii U kind of confusion about the name. But IMO it doesn’t have that Nintendo charm or originality that they usually put their best effort into.

OH! There is a ticket raffle for events in Los Angeles, New York, and Dallas! You need a nintendo account to enter. It’s some one hour experience or something? (Check nintendo’s website)

I’ll definitely be getting one. Can’t wait until they release the new Mario Kart for it.

spoiler alert! make sure to blur it.

Ok, I fixed my post.
