Can an "illegal" Pokemon be considered a cheat?

For example, I have a Tyranitar that I catch in Soul Silver and sent it to Ultra Moon via PKSM, it has no abnormal statuses, no incompatible moves. it just stopped being legitimate (according to PKSM). Would this be considered cheating? he is an normal Tyranitar.

I had this doubt when I found out that generation 6 game servers were in beta testing

I’m not going to pretend that I know anything about Pokémon but I’m pretty sure Pretendo runs checks when trading Pokémon’s which prevent invalid Pokémon from being traded.

I’ll send this thread to someone on the team who is more knowledgeable about this though to see if I missed anything.

Illegal Pokémon will be automatically blocked server-side (using PKHeX legality checks), so you will not be able to trade them on the GTS or Wonder Trade. Battling should also apply.

But, Pretendo will not ban people who hack Pokémon, especially because legal Pokémon are not distiguishable from the legitimate ones. (Meaning as long your Tyranitar is legal, you will be fine)

Moderation on Pokémon games will be applied to inappropriate nicknames or names, advertising sketchy shops in the GTS to sell hacked Pokémon or social media accounts (yep this still happens in Poké Classic Network lol)

(You can check the Tyranitar in PKHeX, if it’s illegal it will be just blocked)

thanks for the help, according to PKSM, it is illegal because it has an invalid move, which is Pursuit, but that doesn’t make sense, because in Ultra Moon it still can learn Pursuit via Egg move.

Check legality with PKHeX, PKSM is not accurate for that.

PKSM is good just for offline Bank and basic save editing such as events and flags.

Is there a version of Pkhex for mobile? I lost my PC a few years ago

There was one but not worth trying

I’ll try to remove the pursuit in Ultra Moon and then see the result in Pksm

yes, he is legal now. I don’t understand why he became illegal for a move he can learn

I’m not familiar with Pokémon’s finer details, but if I remember correctly each Pokémon’s data includes its origin region. You say it’s legal now in a modern game through an egg, but if the Pokemon originated from a game where this wasn’t legal then I can see PKHeX flagging it as that would indicate that the Pokemon was in fact cheated in

Thanks for help, Jon.

Sorry for the bad English, but I’ll answer what I understand xdd

You mean it would be illegal because originally in HGSS he didn’t learn pursuit and now in USUM he does, right? But, he learns Pursuit in HGSS via Egg Move, he learned it when I breed my Tyranitar with my Sceptile. in HGSS he was Legal, but when I moved him to Ultra Moon, PKSM informed me that he couldn’t be legal because his Move 1 was illegal (Pursuit), so I checked his learnset, He just lost access to pursuit in Swsh , he still owned it in USUM. and that was the only thing that made it illegal.

Do you think I should try to breed another one and test it?

Okay, I breed another Larvitar. This one has pursuit and continues to be Legal, thank you all for your help.
