is there any way to play black ops 2 on wiiu online in 2025? any way not just pretendo, just like they did with golden eye 007 on the wii

As far as I know, not currently.

We will not plan to support Black Ops 2 as it used Activision servers. It’s out of scope for Pretendo.

All games that used Nintendo Network will be supported tho

Did Activision ever actually shutdown Wii U servers? It just used nintendo servers as the login key.

It was a server outside of Nintendo that was a connection point. It unfortunately was not cross platform. If this was the case I am sure someone would have just patched the game with a new server address.

The PC version still has online play through a revival community. I haven’t played it in 5 years but the other servers were still up.

Edit: yep the PC servers are working but there are very very few players. There is a multiplayer bit mod though which is pretty cool.

That’s what I’m curious about. Are we sure Activision actually remembered to shut them down or if they just marked it as shut down assuming no one would be able to connect ever again?

Someone needs to make a knock off Pretendo that only supports stuff Pretendo doesn’t (madden,BO2,ect.)

Why not just play the PC versions? There are already mods and server revival on those.

Two reasons:

  1. The Wii U versions are on Wii U, and may have slight changes in gameplay
  2. If you already own the Wii U version, you don’t want to buy the PC version just to play multiplayer

I would post a poll first to see if you have more then just a few players. The PC version is available for just 6,99Euro some sites 10€ but that is a physical copy). Even if the server was revived chances are that there may not be very many players.

I didn’t know that. In that case, my second argument is… not very valid. But I understand either way why CoD: BOII won’t be supported. Love it all you want, but Pretendo would have to steal Activision assets for the servers or completely reverse engineer the servers.

Don’t worry, I know what you mean. Mass effect III an the Wii U has great controls but it can’t be supported either. I think Epic, Bungie (is that how you spell it?) and Activision games just has their own seperate servers. I have seen some BOT mods that add robot players (which are pretty good as they have difficulty settings) for a lot of games.
