This is so cute! Do newer Pokémon games also add the date you meet the Pokémon? It’d be cool if there was a little feature that gave the Pokémon like a party hat or something on their birthday

The newer games do say when a pokemon was hatched or met. The only game with special costumes for pokemon is pokemon go?

Pokémon X came out in 2013 (as well as Pokémon Y, obviously), so it’s not one of the “newer games”, but it still has the date of when an egg hatched or when an egg was received, alongside the date a Pokémon was caught.

Anyway, today’s the birthday of two of my own Pokémon!
So, funny story about Graveler: I was just exploring Victory Road and stuff, in the caves on there specifically, and I was just minding my own business, I hadn’t EVEN completed the Pokédex, when suddenly I encountered this out-of-nowhere random shiny Graveler! I was really surprised and shocked, as I had personally never gotten any shiny Pokémon in any main Pokémon game (obviously Pokémon Go is an exception here), but I knew that my brother had gotten a shiny Tentacruel in Pokémon Ultra Moon, and I was really jealous of it, and a year later, when I encountered this shiny Graveler, I cried with happiness. I still don’t have the Shiny Charm! I named the Graveler “SHINY” because I was really excited about the whole thing, and he (the Graveler) was my first-ever real shiny Pokémon. 4 years later, on the 5th of August 2023, I would randomly encounter yet ANOTHER shiny Pokémon - a Durant.

Today’s the birthday of Thane’s Caterpie! She won’t be one for long, though. I’m just posting it now before she evolves into Metapod.
She’ll probably evolve into Metapod later today.
10/2/2025 update: she evolved into Metapod at level 7, and then again at level 11 into Butterfree.

The thing is, I was planning to post about two Pokémon birthdays (DripOrDrown’s Oddish and KAYLA!!!'s Camerupt)
but the site wouldn’t let me, and then I got excited about somebody recognising one of their former Pokémon. And then it became 12am. Honestly, if you’re going to ruin Pokémon birthday-posting for me, I may as well stop doing it.
P.S. I forgot to upload the images of the OT names last month, BECAUSE of the site being in read-only mode at the time, but now, half a month later, I decided to because why not.
Ok, NOW I can post this safely. It’s the birthday of these twin Togepi (Togepis??) belonging to Justin!
They’re EXACTLY the same, except for their abilities and characteristics. One has Hustle, and the other has Serene Grace. Also, one has the characteristic “Likes to thrash about” and the other’s characteristic is “Mischievous”. Also, they both had Charm as one of their moves, but since it does no damage and is therefore rubbish, I replaced it with Dazzling Gleam, which is WAAAYYYY better.
P.S. One Togepi has Special Attack 5, and the other has Special Attack 6.

It’s funny that a cat Pokémon is having a birthday today, because there was this virtual reality experience in our local city called Horizon of Khufu, where you walk through an entire 3D tour of Ancient Egypt and one of the main characters was the cat goddess Bastet.

These Pokémon belonged to Chris, Aurora, and Firefly respectively. Also, I’m terribly sorry for the absolute GARBAGE photo quality. I’ve taken every single image so far on my mother’s mobile phone. Anyway, today’s the last day of summer in Australia as well!
Oh, and here’s a bonus Leap Day Oshawott, formerly belonging to SHINN, because Leap Day won’t come around again until… (counts on fingers) … 2029.

Today, one Pokémon Trainer - Malik - has two of their former Pokémon celebrating birthdays today! (as in, these are the Pokémon Malik used to have, but then I received the Pokémon through Wonder Trading or something.)
I think the Audino’s French name is pronounced something like “nan-mow-ee”.
You know how last year, I said that there were two Linoone (Linoones?) called Geradaks and they had two different birthdays and at the time, I was celebrating the German Linoone’s birthday?
Well, today is the birthday of the Spanish one! 15 March! The IDES of March!
